COLLABORATION BETWEEN OMC-MED ENERGY CONFERENCE AND AI-SPE  LAUNCHED.
THE NETWORK OF PROFESSIONALS AND YOUNG PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE ENERGY TRANSITION IS GROWING.

Ravenna, 15 June 2021 - OMC-Med Energy Conference has signed a memorandum of understanding with AI-SPE, Associazione Italiana Supporto Professionisti Energia, which operates as the Italian Section of SPE International, a non-profit professional organisation whose mission is to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge on energy and the energy transition, as well as to promote the sustainable use of natural resources and environmental protection.

In particular, the collaboration is intended to implement several specific activities.
First of all, the presence of an AI-SPE representative in the programme committee, in order to guarantee the maximum participation of the disciplines covered by the Association.
Then, there will be a number of dissemination and communication actions, such as the preparation of an SPE newsletter dedicated to OMC, and the organisation of ad hoc webinars dedicated to the energy transition, also in the months following the event in Ravenna.
Moreover, within OMC 2021, SPE will organise a hackathon, a public event whose goal is to share ideas and solutions for technological development with young people.
In addition, OMC will partner SPE for the "Gustavo Sclocchi Thesis Award”, which for more than 25 years has rewarded the best thesis work in the field of energy.
SPE's university networks, led by the Student Chapters, will be able to rely on OMC as a qualified partner for discussions with both the world of energy companies and related stakeholders.

OMC is the event that has been at the forefront of energy issues for 28 years.

Monica Spada, President of OMC-Med Energy Conference, underlines how "both the Conference and AI-SPE have, in recent years, broadened their operational horizons well beyond the traditional boundaries of oil&gas. They have turned their attention to other forms of energy, from renewables to energy efficiency, from the low-carbon economy to the circular economy, with the aim of increasing knowledge about the complementarity of all forms of energy with a holistic and inclusive vision. The development of joint initiatives aimed at young people is intended to strengthen climate awareness and make future generations key players in the process of change in the energy sector".

Paolo Carnevale, Chairman of SPE Italian Section, recalls that the Association, which was founded in the 1980s and has evolved together with the hydrocarbons sector of Italian industry, has also adopted the objective of promoting the knowledge and development of low-carbon energy sources so as to enable a gradual energy transition, attracting new students and young professionals: "In addition to classic O&G topics, we have launched a series of events dealing with the decarbonisation pathway of the industry and technological innovation, in line with SPE International's global vision, which are the key factors for achieving the net-zero target by 2050. We believe that our collaboration with the Conference will reinforce these messages by broadening outreach to professionals and young people, thus creating new opportunities for them.”
