OMC AND ENI ENRICO MATTEI FOUNDATION TOGETHER
FOR THE DECARBONISATION OF THE ENERGY SYSTEM
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed for a common action towards a sustainable energy future

The share of knowhow and experiences of OMC-Med Energy Conference with operators from different fields started today by the initialling of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation (FEEM).
It is the first act of one of the key points of the new vision of the event in order to continue the dialogue and find appropriate solutions for the transformation of the energy system in a low carbon view also beyond the term of the Conference.
The topic of the 2021 OMC-Med energy Conference edition ‘Rethinking Energy together: alliances for a sustainable energy future’ crosses, in fact, the mission of FEEM, that is to deepen the aspects of the sustainable development in the environmental, economic, social and cultural meaning.
FEEM with its planning and its network, will launch with OMC the Call for Ideas MED, one of the new appointments of the OMC 2021 edition, addressed to universities and research institutes to share ideas and technological solutions in the Mediterranean and in North Africa, to promote synergy between low carbon energy sources.
Moreover, the Foundation will bring its support to the rising Strategy Committee of OMC-Med Energy Conference, that is aimed to continue the debate between operators and stakeholders, in order to find the priorities of the energy debate and the shaping of the topics to support the future editions of the Conference.
“The agreement that we sign with the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation it’s the first of a series of alliances that will characterize the work of OMC Med Energy Conference and we see it as a key point to face the global challenge of the climate change” says Monica Spada, president of the event scheduled on 28-30 September in Ravenna. “FEEM becomes for us a strategic partner because it will bring its ability to analyse and its planning inside the Steering Committee that we will formalise in the next weeks. The partnership it’s already in place for the organization of the Call for Ideas MED, a moment of crucial sharing of know how to create in the Mediterranean a new energy transition hub.”
Alessandro Lanza, director of the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation, says: “The increase of the energy efficiency and the decarbonisation of the energy offer, are key points for an important reduction of the climate-changing emissions. The role of the progress of the technical-scientifical knowledge and the capability to create alliances in a global effort are indispensable themes to achieve the objective. For those reasons FEEM fully shares the new vision of OMC Conference and is pleased to bring ist contribute to this important initiative.”
