RETHINKING ENERGY TOGETHER
Alliances for a Sustainable Energy Future
Call for Ideas – Mediterranean Region - Official Announcement
in alliance with
OMC, Offshore Mediterranean Conference, recently renamed OMC Med Energy Conference, since its foundation in 1993, has been contributing to the spread of science and technological knowledge offshore and to the development of the instruments and procedures necessary to explore, study and promote a responsible and sustainable use of energy resources in the Mediterranean. In more recent years, in order to accelerate the energy transition, moving towards carbon neutrality and gas valorization practices while developing clean energy sources, OMC decided to address the renewable energy sector and in 2012, REM, Renewable Energy Mediterranean Conference was launched in Ravenna as tandem event.
With the aim to overcome this dualism between the event and speed-up the delivery of solutions for a sustainable low-emission future, as well as to illustrate how sound energy policies can combine traditional energy and renewable energy, OMC and REM will joint into the new OMC format, that sets as its goal embracing the energy paradigm at 360 degrees in a long-term sustainable development perspective.
The next OMC 2021 event will benefit from the legacy of both REM and the traditional OMC events, and it is strongly committed to expanding its horizon with a holistic perspective, enlarging the boundaries of its activities, including different sources of energy and with a more diversified energy player selection.
The selected theme is Rethinking Energy together: alliances for a sustainable energy future.
OMC ambition is to give new impetus to the event, as we consider it as the ideal place for discussion about synergistic development strategies to face energy transition challenges, as well a catalyst for collaboration.
This is why the OMC event will invest on creating alliances, focusing more and more on partnerships between energy operators, contractors, institutions and consumers to unlock huge business potentials.
For this reason, this year OMC has decided to launch a call for ideas, aimed to promote and award research and technological innovation in the fields of sustainable energy with the focus on the Mediterranean Region Alliance for Energy Transition, in order to promote new alliances across the Med to accelerate the transition towards a low carbon and sustainable future.
